About Maursett

Maureen and Tony Taylor  (along with Hannah & her husband Dave) bid you a warm welcome to the Maursett Gundogs and Hounds site, the home of what we affectionately call the "Maursett Mob" which includes Clumber Spaniels, German Wirehaired Pointers, Field Spaniels, the Bracco Italiano and Basset Hounds.

Those of you who know us for reasons other than dog showing often ask why we use the name "Maursett" - the reason, simply, is that it is the Kennel Club Affix for our Kennels. When we first applied to the Kennel Club for our own affix (when we were showing English Setters and Clumber Spaniels), we tried to get all sorts of names that would be appropriate, all of which were rejected - apart from Maursett (derived from Maureen and Setters) much to Tony's distress!

We hope that you enjoy your visit and please feel free to contact us about our fields of interest, particularly Clumber Spaniels, Bracco Italiano, German Wirehaired Pointers and Basset Hounds.

Our dogs have performed well in both the show ring and working environments and have been bred for type and, above all else, temperament.

Dogs with the Maursett prefix have gained Champion status at home, as well as internationally in the United States of America and in the Republic of Ireland.   Maureen and Tony both award Challenge Certificates in Clumber Spaniels and Maureen also awards CCs in German Wirehaired Pointers.  Maureen and Tony have both judged Clumber Spaniels at Championship Shows in the UK and Australia.  Maureen is the Clumber Spaniels Breed Notes correspondent for Dog World in the UK - anyone with any news or information for Maureen's notes should email her.

The Stig (Jubilwell Riff Raff for Maursett) joined the Maursett Mob and made his debut in the show ring in early 2008.  He has had a great start to his career and has made many friends (canine and human) - Click here to view his pages!

Our daughter Hannah and her husband, Dave Taylor (yes its true, she was too lazy to change her name) both take an active involvement in looking after our dogs and are key members of the team working with the Maursett Mob.  Maureen and Tony are both qualified to implant Microchips and please look at our Microchipping page for more details.
